APPS TO AVOID DISTRACTED DRIVING

By: Chuck Richardson On October 9, 2019

Cell phones can be useful tools, but they can also become distractions behind the wheel. If you find yourself tempted to send a text or scroll social media while you are driving, one of the apps below might be able to help!

AT&T DRIVE MODE

Drive Mode is a free driving app for iPhone and Android that silences all incoming texts and sends autoreply messages to anyone who texts you while you are driving. It activates automatically and provides hands-free voice controls.

LIFESAVER

Families and commercial fleets love LifeSaver because the app automatically locks your phone once you start to drive. The app also offers the option to report a safe arrival to family members or employers.

TEXTLIMIT

Parents are big fans of TextLimit because the whole system operates on speed. Once your vehicle reaches a certain speed, your phone will be disabled, but the app still allows you to check traffic conditions and make emergency phone calls. If you exceed a speed limit, the app will alert you, and if teen drivers exceed a maximum speed setting, the app will alert their parents!

CELLCONTROL

You can tell CellControl exactly what behaviors to prevent. This is a great option for people who need to accept Bluetooth calls, but don’t want to be tempted to send text messages or answer emails.

DOWN FOR THE COUNT

Down for the Count rewards safe driving behaviors by letting drivers create pledge campaigns that others can sponsor.  When parents sign up as sponsors, this app rewards teens for driving safely.

ON MY WAY REALTIME GPS

If you have ever texted someone your ETA while driving, this app is for you! On My Way allows you to share your location with whoever is expecting you in real-time. Simply send the link before leaving, and you won’t be tempted to answer any “Where are you?” texts during your drive.

WHICH APP DID YOU CHOOSE?

Hopefully, one of the apps listed above can help you avoid distracted driving. Unfortunately, other drivers may not have discovered these helpful gadgets.

If you have been injured in an auto accident with a distracted driver, our team at Richardson Richardson Boudreaux, PLLC can help.
