Assistant says attorneys requested DA

AUSTIN – A former assistant to McLennan County District Attorney Vic Feazell testified Thursday that some defense attorneys often insisted on dealing only with Feazell.
On the third day of Feazell’s federal racketeering trial, former Assistant District Attorney William Johnston testified that some lawyers would “ride around the assistant and deal with Mr. Feazell.”
Feazell is accused with 10 counts of mail fraud and taking bribes from lawyers for special treatment of their clients.
He has denied the charges, saying the Texas Department of Public Safety is seeking revenge because of his investigation into murder confessions of Henry Lee Lucas.
