Weary jurors reflect on 9 days of strain, debate

MUSKOGEE – The jury on the second ballot convicted Dan Draper and Joe Fitzgibbon of vote fraud conspiracy, although the first was nearly unanimous, one juror said today.
The decision came two hours after the start of deliberations, but perhaps to avoid cameras, perhaps in thought, perhaps just exhausted after nine days of trial, followed by the lengthy deliberation.
Young said he thought the jury gave the best decision “we could to our consciences.”
There was a little bit of disagreement…at first. That’s why it took seven hours.”
Young refused to discuss the case.
