Richard D. Marrs is a 1973 Cum Laude graduate of the University of Oklahoma having obtained a bachelor of arts degree with a major in history. While at the University of Oklahoma he was a member of Phi Eta Sigma, a freshmen men's honorary fraternity, for having a high grade point average as a freshman and upon graduation, was selected as a member the prestigious honorary organization of Phi Beta Kappa for having graduated in the top ten (10%) of his graduating class.

Mr. Marrs graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1976 receiving his Juris Doctorate degree. While at the College of Law he was a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Alpha Delta. He became licensed to practice law in Oklahoma in 1976. In that same year, he also became licensed to practice law before all trial military courts and the United States Court of Military Appeals. Mr. Marrs is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Tulsa County Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers' Association and is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts within Oklahoma as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the D. C. Circuit.

From 1976 to 1980, Mr. Marrs was a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps and served as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate for the 32d Army Air Defense Command in the Federal Republic of Germany. His duties included the investigation, preparation, prosecution and trial of all crimes committed by Military personnel stationed in Germany, including those crimes which were committed off of military installations but within the borders of Germany. The types of crimes prosecuted included serious offenses such as murder, rape, aggravated assault and drug smuggling. Mr. Marrs actual trial experience is extensive.

Since leaving the Army, Mr. Marrs has concentrated his practice on trial work. Although he has extensive experience doing defense work, since 1988 he has concentrated on a plaintiff's practice. His practice includes most types of tort litigation, including insurance bad faith, personal injury, products liability, professional negligence, nursing home negligence, employment law, railroad crossing litigation and claims under the Federal Employers Liability Act. He has been responsible as lad counsel in numerous settlements and jury verdicts in excess of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) and has been lead counsel in several record jury verdicts and settlements within Oklahoma. Mr. Marrs is presently a senior federal adjunct settlement judge and has presided over many settlement conferences for parties litigating cases within the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma.

Mr. Marrs is married and has two children. He has served as a past and is currently a present Board of Directors member of a newly formed but significant charity within Oklahoma.
